About us

Background

See, Hear and Feel- Uganda is a not-for-profit registered organisation which was founded by Catherine Imalingat in 2017. The vision is to reach out to many people and impact on their lives through performing and creative arts for sustained development. The conception of SHF-U dates back to 2015 when Catherine visited the orphaned children and elderly in her community living under the care of caretakers who are also helpless.

During her visit, all she could offer was prayer. However, Catherine saw the needs of the older persons, youth and the children in her community and country in a passionate way. This changed her perception into using performing and creative arts as an entry point to advocate, lobby and as an intervention. It touched and inspired Catherine into coming up with See, Hear and Feel – Uganda (SHF-U) having seen, heard and felt through empathy. Therefore, trusting and believing that together, we can cause change in the lives of many in need.

In response to this calling, in July 2017, Catherine directed a play and worked with a group of youth who were holiday makers to put up a dramatic show to fundraise and reach out to the needy. This had an impact on both the performers (young people) and the beneficiaries of the outreach (street children).

SHF – U is actively moving in the direction of carrying out and promoting its objectives purposed to meet the vision.
